Finally! Detroit Rock City! I got Kiss's 'Destroyer' album when I was 8 and ever since I've wanted to see if Detroit was the Rock City Paul Stanley talked about. yep. I wasn't disappointed. Once again, lots of snow. Detroit's where MC5, Iggy Pop & the Stooges and Motown Records comes from (and more recently, the White Stripes) . it's a big, dirty industrial city with a gothic vibe that I liked. St. Andrews is an old church turned into a venue which is perfect for big loud rock like us. crowd was hard at first (but we expected that with the musical pedigree of the place) so we rocked twice as hard and finally snagged 'em. no room on stage so there's lots of falling over Tom's drums, leads and guitar techs, falling off stages and general good stuff. loved it. the venue is in 'Greek Town' so went and ate spinach pie, mousakka and lamb shanks afterwards at Niki's. sure beats IHOP for the 3rd day in a row.
