Mt Gambier-Gambeans go sick! Shadows niteclub It's weird,Mt Gambier seemed like it was pretty dead on the streets that Sunday,but we got a lot of Gambeans at the gig. In between the bands sets,Nick (our mixer)and Jason (Bethadupas mixer) entertained the crowd with the Ratchicken Sound System,which is them dubbing Ratchicken comedy phrases over a dub-reggae cd.Very silly and very stinky. My preparation for the nights show consisted of massaging Deep Heat into my inner calf muscles, corn chips,two Red Bulls and an unspecified amount of red wine. It was a very odd venue physically.The stage was very high up and between the stage and the crowd there was about a 10 foot drop down to a different level.I can't remember in exactly what song it was, but I hung my microphone down into this pit so that Joe from Bethadupa (who was down there at the time) could be heard shouting some obscenity into it.The Bethadupa boys requested that we play 'Bitter' that night and for the first half of the song I managed to walk around the side of the P.A and out front and found playing in time hard because Nick our sound mixer had the guitars louder than the drum's. Even though I'm sorry some poor person at the venue had to clean up the mess backstage,it's always exhilarating working on perfecting my fruit throwing-against-wall technique.I could always use the practice.Anyway,on the drive back to Melbourne I badly stubbed my toe jumping out of the Tarago drunk.So now I'm of to the doctor to get it looked at.
