Song meaning as told by Jon: "That's a classic big city song, travelling and not noticing people and wondering why we don't notice people. It's talking to people who look grey and sick on a bus going home from who look like they've got no hope and no future, but who have so much potential inside to do whatever they want. 'Don't it feel good to be alive'? It fucking does. Make sure you relish every day that you're on this planet 'cause there's not long". (Real Groove, September 1999)

Also: "This is a bizarre piece of music. It actually deals a lot with drug addiction, but it's about how it destroys creativity, not about morals or integrity or anything. I'm not going to name names, but it was about someone I have seen be extremely creative, very naturally talented, end up being not so talented. All just by damaging themselves over and over and over again, and then going, 'Where did that inspiration go? What happened? What hole did I fall down?' That song is about the fact that you can damage yourself to the point where a part of yourself is now missing. A part of yourself that was integral to who you were is not there anymore. But it isn't just about that. It is also about what I was going through at thhe time with creativity... So I was talking to myself as well." Rip It Up, Aug-Sep 2010.

I would firstly like to point out that I am not a Bass player, and also that this
 +
is my first Tab, so things may not be truly accurate, but I am a huge Shihad fan,
 +
so I will be trying my best.
 +
 +
Tuning: I have put this tab in Drop D tuning, but I imagine Karl uses the standard
 +
Shihad tuning, (D,G,C,F) It would be fairly easy to convert this into SST, but I
 +
find it’s easier to tune one string then four, (or six if you swing that way.)
 +
 +
 +
Bass starts in the first ‘chorus’. So this is after Jon sings his first “…passenger’s
 +
just passing… by…’ and after the very first guitar riff. Listen to the song to get the
 +
right rhythm. It’s fairly easy.

Lyrics

You better run
As fast as you can
'Cause this passenger's not a happy man
Start running just as fast as you can

You say, you need a friend
Hey, well so do I
But this passenger's just passing by
Passengers just passing
By

At your age and stage
You should understand
But you don't care, you got a master plan
Fuck, fuck, fuck 'em all and take what you can

A freezing cold stare
and a flick in the eye
Passengers just passing by
Passengers just passing by
Passengers just passing by

To walk on water you'd sink in the ice
To walk on water you'd sink in the ice
To walk on water you'd sink in the ice
To walk on water you'd sink in the ice

You're holding everything inside, you're holding everything inside
You're holding everything inside, you're holding everything inside
Don't it feel good just to be alive, still holding everything inside

You don't know what you want
So you take what you can
Still don't make you a happy man
Start running just as fast as you can

A freezing cold stare
And a flick in the eye
Passengers just passing by
Passengers just passing by

To walk on water you'd sink in the ice
To walk on water you'd sink in the ice
For all things gained there's a sacrifice
To walk on water you gotta sink in the ice

You're holding everything inside, you're holding everything inside
You're holding everything inside, you're holding everything inside
And don't it feel good just to be alive,
Don't it feel good just to be alive
You're still holding everything inside

And you don't know what you want, do ya?
Know what you want?
Do ya
Know what you want
What you want?

You're holding everything inside, you're holding everything inside
You're holding everything inside, you're holding everything inside
[Youre still holding]
Don't it feel good just to be alive
Don't it feel good just to be alive
Don't it feel good
You're still holding
Everything inside
Everything inside

Bass

''Tabbed by: Peter Seay, (Tyferra@Hotmail.com)''

I would firstly like to point out that I am not a Bass player, and also that this
is my first Tab, so things may not be truly accurate, but I am a huge Shihad fan,
so I will be trying my best.

Tuning: I have put this tab in Drop D tuning, but I imagine Karl uses the standard
Shihad tuning, (D,G,C,F) It would be fairly easy to convert this into SST, but I
find it’s easier to tune one string then four, (or six if you swing that way.)

Bass starts in the first ‘chorus’. So this is after Jon sings his first “…passenger’s
just passing… by…’ and after the very first guitar riff. Listen to the song to get the
right rhythm. It’s fairly easy.

Continue until it goes back to the chorus, or alternatively, the bridge.

Bridge
(Remember to hold that last long note.)
-This is the part I’m not really sure about, as I did this on a normal guitar, but you
bassists can figure it out for yourselves.

''-Then comes the big smash-feedback-messed-up bit. This is just a mix between a bit of the
verse and a bit of the chorus.''
