Additional Information

The song described by Jon: "'Derail' was part two of 'Screwtop', another song on Churn. It dealt with the anxiety that taking a massive LSD trip, and having it go completely riot, had on my brain. It was one of those songs where I was trying to piece myself back together and I was extremely anxious. It was really just imagery from that nightmarish sort of state, and it's not particularly about one thing. It's more about that mental state of losing your mind and then trying to stick it back together. Hence the word 'derail'. I was certainly derailed by that mutherfucking trip. I didn't dream for six months. I couldn't sleep for six months. I was fucked. But at the same time, I made some really good music. So hey, it's all good. It's a good song too. That is a good riff." Rip It Up, Aug-Sep 2010.

Lyrics

Abrasive to the touch
All in all in all the same thing now
We are gathered here in nonesuch
Hooks back to the line
And I trip over myself here
And I trip over myself
Something's stuck in me here
And I can't get out

Some in paint
Some in blood
Some in makeup
Derail me
Derail me
Derail me
Derail me

To everything
Churn, churn, churn
There is a season
Churn, churn, churn
There is a reason
Churn, churn, churn
This ain't the time or the place

I am sick of walking into rainbows
I am sick of plugging into rainbows
I am sick of tuning into rainbows
I am sick of turning into rainbows

Some in paint
Some in blood
Some in makeup
Derail me
Derail me
Derail me
Derail me

Some in paint
Some in blood
Some in makeup
Derail me
Derail me
Derail me
Derail me
