| |
− | | |
− | Set just three kilometres from Whitianga town centre, the lush surrounds of Ohuka Farm will again play host to Coromandel Gold, this time over the 30th and 31st of December. Jamaican reggae legend Horace Andy & Dub Asante joins an all-star line-up including; Shapeshifter, Kora, Shihad, The Black Seeds, Ladi6, TrinityRoots, The Adults, The Nudge, 1814, Optimus Gryme ft. Tiki and The Upbeats - with another homegrown heavyweight still to be announced.

| |
− | | |
− | After 22 years at the helm of New Zealand’s most loved rock band, Shihad frontman Jon Toogood has built up a treasure trove of musical connections. Lucky for us they have now collided, resulting in one hell of a project.
| |
− | | |
− | With a vast collection of musical ideas and a bit of downtime, Jon began work on a project which has now become The Adults, a celebration of his work with some of New Zealand’s brightest talents and an iconic Kiwi album in-the-making.
| |
− | | |
− | The Adults are Jon Toogood (Shihad), Tiki Taane, Shayne Carter (Straightjacket Fits/Dimmer), Anika Moa, Ladi6, Julia Deans, Gary Sullivan (JPSE/Dimmer), Nick Roughan (Skeptics), Ruban & Kody Nielson (The Mint Chicks), Warren Maxwell (Trinity Roots/Little Bushman), Ricki Gooch (Trinity Roots) Redford Grenell (Shapeshifter) and Steve Bremner.
| |
− | | |
− | With their debut, self titled album set for release on June 20, The Adults have given us a preview of what is to come with the tasty sweet soul of ‘Nothing To Lose’ which has gone on to become a #1 Alt radio hit and YouTube favourite http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fx6G0NGZJxU
| |
− | | |
− | ‘One Million Ways’ (the first official single) is one of the many standout tracks – infectious and epic in equal measure. Other highlights include the Anika Moa lullaby-esque ‘Sleep Me Tight’, good friend Julia Deans on the optimistic ‘New Beginning’ and co-pilot Shayne Carter on ‘Most Important’. The result is a collection of songs - beautiful in its eclecticism.

− | ===10 April 2001 - Shihad Playing London in June at the Southern Sounds Festival===
| |
− | Shihad will be playing at the inaugural [[Gig 20110611|Southern Sounds Festival]]. Shihad will be in the UK for this date solely and will not be playing any other gigs while they are over there. The Southern Sounds Festival appears to be a new festival on the London calendar which brings together NZ, Aussie and South African bands for the ex-pat community. Currently Shihad will be supported by INXS and Town Hall Steps, given that the festival is nine hours long we are guessing that more bands will be joining the line up.
